SEO Inspector
How it works
A plain-English explanation of what happens when you inspect a URL and what the tool does not do.
What is sent and why
When you submit a URL, your browser sends that URL to the ototema Worker. The Worker fetches the public page to read its HTTP response and return technical SEO evidence. A browser-only tool cannot inspect a remote page's response reliably because of web security restrictions.
What is processed
The inspection reports the requested and final URL, HTTP status, redirects, content type, response size, X-Robots-Tag, page metadata, indexability evidence, and crawl hints. For each inspection, it may also fetch the origin's public robots.txt and its declared sitemap URLs (or /sitemap.xml when none are declared). The tool is deliberately bounded: it only fetches public HTTP(S) URLs, rejects local and private-network targets, limits redirects, response size, and time, and does not crawl a site or enumerate sitemap contents.
Retention
The application does not intentionally store submitted URLs or fetched HTML as inspection history. Responses are handled transiently to produce the result shown in your browser. URLs with embedded HTTP credentials are rejected. Do not submit URLs containing private information, such as password-reset or signed links.
30-day measurement checklist
Review Google Search Console after 30 days: impressions, clicks, and search queries for the tool and this guide. Separately review privacy-safe aggregate tool usage, if enabled, such as successful inspections and error categories. Use those signals to improve discoverability and reliability, not to build a record of individual inspected URLs.
